The three most crucial things that inspired me to dive in Vasudha Pharma Chem Limited :

  • Using the mentor and mentee programme, I can have brief weekly meetings where I may ask any questions I have about Hana.
  • Having to scribble down notes on something you don’t understand may be rather amusing afterwards, but it did help me figure out which parts I didn’t grasp so I could research them later.
  • Instead of writing a lengthy email, I may request a brief phone conversation. This is much-needed personal touch, and a little conversation in the first minute(s) lifts the moods.

start of the internship:

Less than a month passed between the contract’s signature and the completion of the required documentation, which was done online. I asked my prospective manager for advice on how to be ready while we were in touch. I received a list of resources and immediately got started by enrolling in various openSAP classes. Even before the internship had begun, this helped me gain momentum and settle into my eventual field of work. Additionally, simply knowing that I will be ready to go relieved my stress.

First Month:

The first month was entirely devoted to settling in and was not at all project-focused. I absorbed a good deal of the initial information. This made me feel much more at ease and clarified the most of the procedures and equipment I would be utilising going ahead.

I had the chance to introduce myself to the group I would be working with early on. It was a brief introduction during a team meeting, and although I was a little scared, it was far from ideal. The most crucial factor was that my team members and coworkers were aware of my presence and were familiar with my name. In the days and weeks that followed, I felt free to get in touch with a few of them for a brief, personal introduction. Even though the conversation was just 5 minutes long, it felt wonderful to have this personal touch and would make future communication with them easier.

I was mostly focused on getting started with the required learning after doing the majority of the onboarding chores, which might take up to three days. I had been given a list of classes to take and readings to do.

Along with the homework assignments, my manager quickly invited me to team and project meetings. I had to record the meeting’s minutes. Even though I occasionally hardly comprehended anything, having to jot down the most crucial details enabled me to rapidly identify a framework among all those issues. My notes, which were occasionally extremely inaccurate, were rectified by my mentor. I then utilized the SAP search or SAPedia search to research acronyms, SAP terminology, or new subjects. My current project uses object-oriented JavaScript and the SAPUI5 framework to improve the features of one of the SAP HANA modelling components. I must use QUnit to create the unit test cases for the project since agile development is being used.

I was a little hesitant at first to make calls to my coworkers personally. I’m delighted they occasionally want to speak on the phone to connect rather than send lengthy emails. The human interaction stimulates, especially while working from home, and helps me feel more connected and integrated. Now I’m striving to be more upfront with this approach as well. Additionally, I like to utilize the first minute or minutes for a little talk because it’s usually entertaining.

Summing up:

I appreciate all the assistance I have received in getting off to such a successful and enjoyable starting. I have successfully blended into my community and am enjoying my internship. Writing meeting minutes, interacting 1:1 with colleagues, and having mentors were the three key factors that helped me the most to adapt.
